Welcome to rentusedbikes.com. These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our bicycle rental service. By renting a bicycle from us, you agree to be bound by these terms and our Privacy Policy. Please read them carefully before proceeding with your rental.

1. Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions:

• “We,” “us,” “our” refers to rentusedbikes.com and its operators
• “You,” “your,” “renter” refers to the person renting the bicycle
• “Bicycle” or “bike” refers to any bicycle and its accessories provided by us
• “Rental period” refers to the agreed time during which you are authorized to use the bicycle

2. Rental Eligibility

1. You must be at least 18 years of age to rent a bicycle from us.
2. You must provide valid government-issued photo identification (driver’s license, passport, or Danish health card).
3. You must provide a valid payment card (credit or debit card) for payment and security deposit.
4. You must be physically capable of safely operating a bicycle.

3. Rental Agreement and Payment

1. Rental rates are as posted on our website or at our rental location.
2. Payment is required in full at the time of rental. All prices include 25% Danish VAT.
3. A security deposit will be charged to your payment card at the start of the rental.
4. The security deposit will be fully refunded if the bicycle is returned in acceptable condition within the agreed rental period.
5. The deposit is typically refunded within 7-14 business days after return.
6. Late returns will be charged additional fees as specified at the time of rental.

4. Bicycle Condition and Inspection

1. You are responsible for inspecting the bicycle before rental and reporting any defects or damage.
2. We provide a bicycle in good working condition with equipment required by Danish law.
3. You agree to return the bicycle in the same condition as received, normal wear and tear excepted.

5. Mandatory Bicycle Equipment in Denmark

You are responsible for ensuring lights are working when cycling in darkness. Fines for missing lights can be up to 700 DKK.

6. Use of Bicycle

1. You agree to use the bicycle only for lawful purposes and in a safe manner.
2. You must comply with all applicable traffic laws and Danish cycling laws, including cycling on the right side of the road and using bike paths where they exist.
3. You must not allow any other person to use the bicycle unless authorized by us.
4. You must not use the bicycle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The blood alcohol limit for cyclists in Denmark is 0.50.
5. Wearing a bicycle helmet is not mandatory in Denmark, but it is strongly recommended. Helmets are available upon request.
6. You must not use a mobile phone while cycling. The fine is 1,000 DKK.
7. You must not transport passengers on the bicycle unless it is equipped with an approved child seat.
8. The bicycle must not be used for commercial purposes, racing, stunts, or any activity that could cause damage.

7. Theft and Loss

1. You are responsible for the security of the bicycle at all times during the rental period.
2. The bicycle must be locked when not in use using the lock provided.
3. In the event of theft, you must immediately report it to the police and to us, providing a police report.

8. Theft Insurance Coverage

Theft insurance is included in your rental fee and covers the replacement value of the bicycle in the event of theft during the rental period, subject to the following conditions:

• You must have used the provided lock properly
• You must provide a valid police report
• An excess (deductible) applies based on the bicycle category:
  • Standard Bike: 2000 kr
  • E-Bike: 6000 kr
  • Premium E-Bike: 15000 kr
  • Cargo Bike: 20000 kr
  • Scooter: 3000 kr

The excess amount will be charged to your payment card. Your security deposit will be applied toward the excess amount, and any remaining balance will be charged separately. If theft occurs due to failure to properly secure the bicycle with the provided lock, the insurance coverage may be void and you will be liable for the full replacement value of the bicycle.

9. Damage and Repairs

1. You are responsible for any damage to the bicycle beyond normal wear and tear.
2. In the event of mechanical failure or damage, you must contact us immediately and not attempt repairs yourself.
3. Repair or replacement costs will be deducted from your deposit or charged to your payment card if the damage is determined to be your responsibility.

10. Liability and Assumption of Risk

1. You acknowledge that cycling involves inherent risks including injury or death.
2. You assume all risks associated with the rental and use of the bicycle.
3. In accordance with Danish law, we are not liable for any injury, death, loss, or damage arising from your use of the bicycle unless caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct.
4. You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the bicycle.

11. Insurance

You are encouraged to have personal health and liability insurance.

12. Return of Bicycle

1. The bicycle must be returned to the designated location by the agreed return time.
2. Late returns will incur additional charges.
3. If you fail to return the bicycle within 24 hours of the agreed return time without notification, the bicycle may be reported as stolen.

13. Cancellations and Refunds

1. Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the rental start time will receive a full refund.
2. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the rental start time will forfeit 50% of the rental fee in accordance with Danish consumer protection legislation.
3. No-shows will forfeit the entire rental fee.

14. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting on our website. Your continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms and Conditions shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.

16. Right of Withdrawal

In accordance with Danish consumer legislation, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal for bookings made online or by telephone. The right of withdrawal expires if the rental has commenced before the expiry of the withdrawal period.
